Mountain cult in the Bashkir folklore

The article considers the reflection of the mountain cult in the Bashkir folklore genres. The author uses materials based on informants’ living memory and recorded during folklore expeditions. Mountain worship is one of the most stable worldview concepts, dating back to ancient times and still revealing traces in the people mind. In this context, worship rules, prohibitions, beliefs, signs associated with mountains should be examined since they reflect the spiritual and ecological knowledge of the ethnos.
