Subcultural specificity of lexical and phraseological units of the somatic code (on the material of us military slang)

The article is devoted to the study of subcultural specificity of lexical and phraseological units of the somatic cultural code in US military slang. Analysis of words and idioms with the somatic component in the slang of US military subculture representatives reveals the number of symbolic meanings, associations, emotions and assessments arising from the use of linguistic units of somatic code in speech, determined by the army society specifics. The author notes that vocabulary and phraseology of the somatic cultural code in US military slang allows to reveal the peculiarities of the armed forces representatives’ worldview. The article concludes that vocabulary and phraseology with the somatic component in US military slang represents the soldier, his emotions, activities and behavior, relationships, nominates weapon and military equipment, reflects the stereotypes, prevailing in the army society.
