"Uncle Vanya" as an element of the national mythology

The article deals with the question of the formation of A. P. Chekhov's play “Uncle Vanya” as a component part of the collective consciousness of the nation. From mass culture's examples, our work investigates the collective image of “Uncle Vanya” as the symbol of home warmth, cosiness, family and close friends. It examines the use of popular expressions from the play “Uncle Vanya”, which can be found both in colloquial speech and in literary works. As a result of the research, the article suggests the conclusion that the play “Uncle Vanya” is the concept of the national consciousness.
