On some approaches to the use of geographic information systems in education management

The object of the article is the use of geographic information systems in education. The subject of the research is approaches to improving the efficiency of education management through the integration of GIS and BI – systems. The article summarizes the experience of teaching a number of disciplines in the field of Geoinformatics in the preparation of engineering specialists. The research is carried out on the basis of theoretical methods: theoretical analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature on the subject of research; study and analysis of documents, normative and legislative acts in the education system; systematization; analysis; empirical methods. The authors ' contribution to the study is determined by its scientific novelty, which consists in improving approaches to the use of geoinformation systems of education (in the educational process and in the management of education). The authors give examples of the use of a number of disciplines in the field of Geoinformatics in the training of engineering specialists and come to the conclusion about the improvement of their information culture, based on the results of pedagogical experiment. To improve education management, the authors propose a number of approaches to the use of geoinformation systems and their integration with BI systems.
