Rare words in artistic texts by Chekhov A. P.

The article states the meaning of several rare words: fendrik, chemerica, mantifoliya. During the analysis, it turns out that neither the explanatory dictionaries nor the textual commentaries of literary critics provide accurate information about the semantics and etymology of these words, since these sources do not sufficiently take into account the usage of that day and the history of the word in the Russian language.
