The Michail Bakhtin theory of speech genres as a basis for description of the tourist guide discursive practice

The article critically analyzes traditional approaches to the identification of display and storytelling techniques as fundamental elements of excursion communication. The author sees a more rigorous and logical way, the approach designated at the time by M. Bakhtin in his work The Problem of Speech Genres, which was recognized and developed by a number of Russian linguists. From the possible models proposed by them based on the theory of Bakhtin, the model of the speech genre of T. V. Shmeleva was chosen, which, in the opinion of the author of the article, can serve in the future as a basis for describing the stable communicative speech patterns existing within the super-genre.
