Semantics of destruction verbs in Hindi

This paper of Linguistic Typology explores the destruction verbs in Hindi- kaTnā “to be cut”, kāTnā “to cut” and cīrnā “to cut”, “to split”. We analyzed the lexical features of their direct use, as well as the system of their metaphorization. The principles of metaphorization of the semantic field of destruction were investigated, relevant semantic parameters were revealed.
