The use of case study methods in course “Latin language and the basics of medical terminology” as a mean of medical students’ thinking abilities

This article substantiates the importance of developing the medical students' thinking as the most important component of future professional competence. The analysis of the scientific points of views on the "mental activity", "thinking", "mental operations" was performed. The use of situational tasks in the course "Latin language and the basics of medical terminology" is shown to contribute to the development of both convergent and divergent ways of thinking and is a factor of the formation of professional motivation of medical students through strengthening the association of the Latin language with the needs of students' professional training.
