Symbolism of the colour term “white” in the idiomatic worldview of the English language

This article considers metaphorical meanings of the colour term “white” in the idiomatic worldview of the English language. It describes the white colour symbolism in different cultures and analyses its reflection in English idioms. It identifies the particularities of white colour symbolism in the English language. The study resulted in the conclusion that the symbolism of the colour term "white" in the idiomatic worldview of the English language reflects both the philosophical and axiological understanding of the surrounding reality by mankind, and the peculiarities of the English national culture.
