Vague words in business Chinese language

This paper is devoted to the main features of vague word usage in formal and business Chinese writing. The author provides a detailed classification of vague words in Chinese language, analyses some patterns of this lexical layer functioning in business discourse. Vague words are the type of general words that emphasize an abstract manner distinctive for the official style of language. At the same time, the use of vague words, being combined with business Chinese special words, supplements the exact and concrete language and reflects opposite trends in the evolution of official and business Chinese language.
