Representation of the concept “world” in the lyrics of British rock musician John Lennon

This article discusses the representation of the concept of "peace" in the lyrics of British rock musician John Lennon. The consideration of the concept takes place not only in the linguistic, but also in the sociocultural context and the context of additional knowledge. This concept takes a leading place in the lyrics of John Lennon's songs and is implemented both through direct lexemes “world” and “peace”, which are often found in the text, and through many other related lexemes. The author considers the definition of the term “concept” itself, identifies three main approaches to the definition of a concept. In addition, a corpus of units verbalizing the concept of “peace” in the lyrics of John Lennon is presented, and the sociocultural context is considered. The material for the study is the lyrics of the songs of John Lennon, while the composition “Imagine” is taken as the basis.
