Formation of socio-cultural management as a field of scientific knowledge and professional training

This article deals with the issues of formation of modern socio-cultural management as a field of researches and professional training. The process of professionalization and institutionalization of socio-cultural management, approaches to the study of the functions of management of social and cultural activities are discussed. The author presents the results of scientific and pedagogical activity of the Department of social and cultural activity of the St. Petersburg State University of Culture. He argues the necessity to develop a new strategy for professional training of managers of socio-cultural sphere in the conditions of implementation of the value oriented model of state cultural policy of modern Russia
