French neology: the historical aspect.

In this article the author considers the issues of French neology in a historical aspect. He mentions the first explanatory dictionaries intended for native speakers, analyzes two types of synonyms dictionaries. The fundamental historical stage in the formation of authentic French lexicography, according to the researcher, was the desire to simplify definitions, avoiding incomprehensibility and deep wording. The dictionaries of that time had the task of allowing the reader to rely on sociolinguistic customs, standards and norms with the help of words, that is, to learn to speak and do it according to the rules. The author considers the factors that influenced the fate of vocabulary. Indicates a trace of recognition of the need for language changes and alertness to uncontrolled innovations. The output of each new dictionary is determined by certain trends in the research environment. The author examines in detail the history and transformation of the very concept of “neologism” in French linguistics. It considers factors that influenced the future fate of vocabulary. The influence of socio-political transformations on the life of the French people is not spared by the language: either a committee is created that is responsible for finding forgotten and useful neologisms, then interest is completely lost and a negative connotation of this term appears. Thus, according to the author, the development of neology is directly related to social, state and economic changes.
