Developing the e-course for teaching professional foreign language to customs students: in search of optimal solutions

the experience of developing the LMS MOODLE based e-course for teaching professional English to customs students is described in the article. The comparative analysis of traditional and e-courses as well as the insight into the evolution of electronic teaching resources enable the authors to actualize the paramount importance of e-teaching and blended learning, emphasize the priority of open online-courses in terms of teaching a professionally-oriented foreign language (English) to customs matters students in the era of digital economy. The authors describe in detail the functional units of their open online course meant for customs students. Particular attention is devoted to the model of professional readiness to foreign language communication of future customs specialists which determines the methodical basis of the course. The results of testing allow the authors to come to the conclusion that the new special purpose open online course has compelling advantages with regard to the teaching process optimization and organizing independent work of students.
