Functional semantic aspects in the study of concepts “Intellect” and “Moral” on modern Russian mass media

This article focuses on research the concepts “intellect” and “moral”, their interrelationships in concrete language situation, namely on modern Russian mass media. Object of the research is concept “intellect” in combination with verbal marking “moral”. Subject of the research is national-cultural specifics of semantics and function of given lexical unit in modern mass media discourse. The aims of the research are based on functional-semantic approach to studying interrelationships between the notions “intellect” and “moral” on modern Russian mass media and to identifying national-cultural specifics its identified relations. Special emphasis has been placed on combination “moral intelligence” and opposition “intellect-moral” on contextual level. The semantic and functional analysis of given lexical unit from electronic resources “Google news” is represented. The main conclusion of research is that lexical unit “intellect” and “moral” had been used in many discourse areas, including educational, politic, patriotic, philosophical. Moreover, contextual combination of notions “intellect” and “moral” can be considered from the point of view of axiology, since the topic of interrelationships between human intellect and moral, represented in practice of modern Russian mass media, has ambivalent evaluation: it has not only positive connotation (useful for developing the personality of any kind of person), but also negative connotation (refusal to demonstrate the high morality and remarkable ability of intellect). Novelty of the research is newly research of semantic and functional language unit “intellect” and “moral” and their interrelationships on modern Russian mass media in functional-semantic aspect. The result if given research can be used in developing the academic course in higher education, rerated to the topic of international contact, namely course in Cultural linguistics and course in practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
