Evaluation of the quality of translation of a work of art in the historical perspective

The article deals with the problem of assessing the quality of literary translation and concludes that this concept is historical and national, which requires taking into account the existing experience in a specific cross-language translation interaction. Traditions of studying literary translation in Russia have more than two centuries and are associated with the formation and development of Russian literature. The historical approach is of great educational and didactic importance in the training of future translators, as it shows the two-century richness of the development of literary translation in Russia, proving that many of the categories by which modern scientists describe the features of assessing the quality of a literary text, came out of the depths of Russian literature, where translation issues have always been the focus of the literary community.
