Konstantinova A. G.  (Candidate of historical sciences, Research officer, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg); Docent, Technological Institute of National Research Nuclear University «Moscow Engineering Physics Institute» (Lesnoy, Sverdlovsk region))

The article presents a retrospective analysis of changes in the social structure of closed administrative territorial entities (CATEs) of the Ural in the 1990s in terms of differentiation in categorical opposition between «insiders» and «outsiders». The chosen research perspective helped to show that the social structure of the Ural CATEs retained weak differentiation during the period of active social transformations of the 1990s.

Keywords:social structure, social transformations, binary opposition «insider – outsider», closed administrative territorial entity (CATE).
