The split infinitive construction in the english language

The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the current status of syntactic constructions with split infinitive on the basis of a critical analysis of various grammatical sources and results obtained on the basis of an experiment with informants. The article analyzes the normativity of the use of the split infinitive and its functions in speech. Using the methods of corpus linguistics, the frequency of using constructions with split infinitive was established, and the selection of material used for conducting a survey of informants regarding the use of the construction was made. The study material can be used in further research on English grammar, as well as in the development of materials for practical classes and grammatical reference books.
