Preliminary stage of formation of the Nizhny Novgorod militia in July – August 1812

this article is based on Archival materials of the Central archive of the Nizhny Novgorod region (TSANO), discusses the features of the preparatory stage of the formation of the Nizhny Novgorod militia in the era of 1812, as well as, on the basis of office documentation, provides information about the formation of its command and organizational structures, along with data on the rules of collecting the militia and the features of creating committees of dotations and weapons, supplies and other information that characterizes the "private" episode of the formation of the provincial militia unit of the Russian army.
