Collocative competence of non-linguistic university students: difficulties of learning and research

The aim of the study is to substantiate the importance of the formation of collocative competence, repeated exposures of collocations by analyzing the works of the famous researchers of collocations. The article considers collocative competence as a problem area, emphasizes the importance of acquiring receptive and productive skills in using collocations. Scientific novelty lies in an integrated approach to causal relationships resulting in low collocative competence. As a result, the conclusion is formed that repeated exposure of collocations in various contexts and co-texts is a prerequisite for the development of the students' collocative competence.
