Pecularities of modern political newspeak as exemplified in the English language

This article is devoted to the peculiarities of the formation and functioning of modern political Newspeak in English. The relevance of the research topic is mainly in the need of studying the means of developing the modern English language, including within the framework of political discourse. The author examines the emergence of the concept of "Newspeak", describes its characteristic features, and presents examples of its completion and functioning in the English language. The research materials are the political texts of the American and British media. In the course of work on the research material we used the method of analysis of dictionary definitions and the method of introspective analysis. The author concludes that Newspeak is also an effective means of broadening the vocabulary of modern English.
