Cognitive-semantic analysis of verbal group for division and separation

Verbal group for division and separation expresses actions and events closely related to people's daily life. Its frequency of use is very high, and correspondingly, cognitive derivation is also very active. Studying the cognitive mechanism of polysemy derived from verbal group for division and separation can help us clarify the cognitive connection between its different meanings. This paper aims to study the cognitive derivation mechanism of verbal group for division and separation and there are few related studies. In this paper, we firstly define the semantic meaning of the verbs based on the theory of lexical semantics, then analyze their semantic differences. Finally, based on the theory of cognitive linguistics (cognitive similarity and cognitive mapping), make a cognitive interpretation of its polysemy derivations.
