Geographic education: modern challenges and vectors of development in the Tula region

This article observes the parts of the forming of the geographical education system in the Tula and this region in coordination with the requirements of the new Federal Educational Standards and the Conception of the development of geographical Education of the Russian Federation. The in the research is writing the differences of development in the formation of components of functional literacy of students in educational and extracurricular activities in geography and the content of existing training courses. The lines of implementing the continuity of the school courses, "The world around us" and "Geography" at the stages of primary and basic general school were discussed. The experience of approbation of one of the regional projects of local history content - "Love and know your fatherland", prepared for primary school students, is presented. The article considers the participation of the professional communication of geography teachers in the development of a system of methodological support for teachers on the example of an annual field workshop.
