State-confessional relations in the Tatar ASSR in the period of the Khrushchev thaw

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the functioning of religious associations of the Tatar ASSR in the conditions of the Khrushchev thaw. The authors consider the reasons that led to the tightening of the policy of the Soviet state towards religion in this period, the forms and methods of implementing this course in such a multi-confessional region as the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, their results and effectiveness are determined. The factors that allowed the functioning of the religious associations of the republic in the conditions of severe administrative pressure from the authorities are shown.
