Functioning of military terms within the semantic field (by the material of Finnish verbs)

The object of research in this article is the military terminology of the Finnish language, the subject is military terms-verbs. The purpose of the article is to study the features of the functioning of terms-verbs within the semantic field (on the example of seven semantic fields: "leadership", "attack", "movement", "defense", "structure", "execution", "order") in Finnish-language authentic texts. In the course of the study, methods of generalization and collection of terminological units, target sampling, semantic and pragmatic analysis were used. The language material for this study was extracted from authentic Finnish-language texts of a military-political and military-technical nature. The practical significance of this work lies in the possibility of using the material presented in the article in the classroom for the discipline practical course of military translation of the Finnish language. The article outlines the prospect of studying Finnish military terminology in general. The results of the study showed that the terms-verbs - one-word or verb-nominal phrases within the semantic field - will be mostly incomplete synonyms in relation to each other, their meaning will depend on the context.
