Tsaturyan M. M.  (Doctor of Philology, Full professor, Kuban State University, Krasnodar)

Sarkisyan M. A.  (Candidate of Philology, Teacher, Kuban State University, Krasnodar)

The relevance of the issue stated in the article is due to the fact that with the dominant role in Shakespeare's sonnets of lexico-semantic figurative means, a huge role in them is also played by phonetic, rhythmic-intonational, i.e. sound-semantic means. These components of the poetic form act as essential elements of the figurative structure of the sonnets. Form and content appear in Shakespeare in an inseparable unity. An analysis of the sound-semantic figurativeness of the original and its transfer in translation showed that the preservation of sounds, sound combinations from which alliteration is built and the transfer of emotions is higher than a fundamental translation. The translator must convey the smell of the fire, the light of the sun, the ringing of the stream, which leads to the loss of repetitions of the consonances of the original. The reproduction of alliterations should be felt by the translator.

Keywords:sound-semantic means of figurativeness, stylistic and semantic substitutions in translation, the relationship between the meaning and sound of a word, the reproduction of sound images in poetic translation.
