The meaning of E. Benot's philosophical grammar "The art of speaking" in the Spanish linguistic tradition

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the philosophical grammar “The Art of Speaking” (1910) by the famous Spanish scientist and teacher Eduardo Benot. Drawing on the Spanish and French traditions, Benot explores the connection between language and thinking. For him, language is a system that creates a huge number of combinations from a relatively limited number of words, being primarily a communication system. Benot's work stands out in the Spanish grammatical tradition with an emphatically expressed functional approach to the definition of parts of speech.
