Phraseological expression of the subject in the novel by M.A. Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita" and in its translation into German

The article considers phraseological units of M.A. Bulgakov's novel «The Master and Margarita» and their translation into German from the point of a complex comparative approach. Phraseological units with a generalizing meaning are analyzed as the means of explication of a semantic subject, providing information about the cognitive-axiological structure of the corresponding artistic images and the linguistic and cultural code of the work. In the original text and in its translation, phraseological units indicating the subject are presented both in a formal way and in the form of author's semantic and morphological transformations. The main ways of transmitting the nuclear meaning and accompanying connotations of such phraseological units are the selection of phraseological equivalents and phraseological analogues. The greatest difficulty for translation is represented by the author's transformations of phraseological units.
