Uncensored soviet periodicals as a source for the study of the social and cultural life of the Siberian region

The author's historiographical analysis has shown that the significance of uncensored periodicals for the study of local and provincial history has been underestimated to date. The purpose of the article is to reveal the information potential of uncensored periodicals published in Siberia and to characterize the possibilities of their use in historical and regional studies. The work is based on a significant body of self-published newspapers and magazines published in Siberia, which the author has identified. The information content and thematic peculiarity of the unauthorized Siberian press of the Soviet years are characterized in the article. The possibilities of the use of this unique source in the study of regional history of the Soviet period are shown and evaluated.
