The potential of modern educational technologies: resources, tools, services

Universities all over the world are increasingly embracing cloud technology. Qualitative characteristics, features and benefits, including the provision and support of access to a wider network of software resources, pay-as-you-go; self-service capability; operational agility, mobility of essential services and supporting services, introduction of flexible management techniques and centralization of resources. However, the risks that entail not using modern technologies range from security problems to a lack of support from the providers of these cloud services. The aim of the paper is to analyse the potential of modern educational technologies, to consider the advantages and disadvantages of integrating existing digital learning tools and teaching resources into a holistic development system, to review them and to assess the difficulties encountered. The results of the analysis highlight that security, privacy and reliability are key determinants of the reluctance to use modern educational technologies.
