The role of the zemstvo in the development of health service in the population in Vasilsuru district in the post-reform period

The article deals with the problems of medical care for the rural population of Russia before the transformations of Alexander 2, since this issue was transferred to the care of local authorities - the county zemstvo. In the short period of work of the Zemstvos, certain successes were achieved, but there were even more unresolved problems, since the development of medical care required more and more funds. In Vasilsky Uyezd, two districts were created, the districts were headed by doctors with higher medical education, medicine was free, and the poor were provided with free medicines. Medical care for the population, assistance to the disabled and the elderly were important areas of activity for the zemstvo authorities in Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
