Predicate types in Persian and Ossetian languages.

Tsopanova Rita Georgievna  (Doctor of Philology, Professor, North Ossetian State University named after Kosta Levanovich Khetagurov)

The article provides a comparative analysis of simple verb and compound nominal predicates in the Ossetian and Persian languages. The relevance of the work is due to the need to study the syntax of a simple sentence within the framework of composing a contrastive grammar of the Ossetian and Persian languages. In the course of the study, it was found that in the Ossetian language, complex verbs and periphrastic forms of verbs correspond to analytical verb forms in Persian; the number of simple verbs in the Persian language for the formation of simple verb predicates is limited. In Ossetian, prefixed verbs are not a special morphological form for expressing a simple verb predicate, and the infinitive cannot be a component of the nominal part of a compound predicate. The results of the study can make a certain contribution to the study of the syntactic structure of the Ossetian and Persian languages.

Keywords:predicate types, auxiliary and connective verbs.
