English phraseological euphemisms about old age as a means of effective communication

The article considers phraseological units (PUs) of the English language as euphemistic means of transmitting information about the old age of a person. The work is based on an approach to the study of communication in the norm. In the course of the semantics study of phraseological euphemisms, cognitive models of their creation are revealed, and the properties of the figurative basis involved are also considered. It is concluded that the specificity of the image base is able to neutralize conflict meanings when presenting information about the elderly.
