Conceptualization of natural phenomena in the English and Kalmyk languages

In the English and Kalmyk languages, natural phenomena play a significant role in the culture of the people; they have always been a part of their cultural world, influencing national traditions and the way of living, their attitude to various manifestations of reality. The linguistic representation of the concepts “rain”, “snow”, “wind” in the English and Kalmyk languages is described in the present article; the national and cultural specifics of the representation of the concepts of nature are revealed on the basis of meaningful comprehension of phraseological units. At the conceptual level the analyzed concepts are characterized by different intensity, density, duration, temperature, associated with the geographical and climatic features of the area. Semantic transformations of paremiological units, presented in the form of axioms of interaction, life support, communication, security, realism, prudence, responsibility, determine the estimated characteristics of the concepts under consideration.
