Methods of translating long difficult Russian sentences

This article is dedicated to the topical issue for translation studies about how to translate long complex sentences of the Russian language into Chinese. The author of the work proceeds from the position that long complex sentences, as a rule, contain a lot of prepositional phrases, participial and adverbial constructions, adverbial constructions, as well as various subordinate clauses that cause special difficulties in the work of a translator, which can only be overcome by a competent choice of strategy , as well as translation methods. The aim of the work is to determine the range of methods that show their effectiveness when working on long complex syntactic structures. The material of the study was long and complex sentences from short stories by A.P. Chekhov "Ionych" and "Lady with a Dog". The article deals with such aspects of the topic as identifying the features of a long-syllabic sentence in Russian, describing the scheme of the process of their translation, and determining methods. In addition, the paper points out the issues that must be considered when translating the considered syntactic constructions, outlines the range of professional competencies of the translator, knowledge, and skills
