The article is devoted to the issues of teaching the discipline "Russian language and culture of speech" to students of a non-humanitarian profile in a technical university, as well as its place in the system of higher education. Some interactive methods of work are considered, forms of conducting practical classes are described that contribute to the effective assimilation of educational material, the expediency of teaching this discipline to students of technical universities is noted.
