SULFUR ACID PRODUCTION IN RUSSIA BY THE BEGINNING OF THE XX-TH CENTURY: A GENERAL OVERVIEW

this article is devoted to the state of domestic production of sulfuric acid by 1901. The main methods of production, its significance and volumes are described. Objective relationships are demonstrated, firstly, between the state of sulfuric acid production and the general level of development of the national chemical industry and, secondly, between the state of the chemical industry and the level of development of the industry as a whole. It is concluded that the study of the state of a separate advanced and knowledge-intensive industry operating in a market economy allows us to draw certain conclusions about the general level of development of industrial production in a particular country. In this work, we used not only universal methods of scientific cognition, but also the most important principles of historical cognition. It was impossible to do without special methods of historical research. This made it possible to make a critical analysis of published and unpublished sources; to adequately assess the level of sulfuric acid production by the beginning of the 20th century, to identify similar signs of homogeneous processes, etc.
