RUSSIAN AND KUMYK RIDDLES WITH THE “SOUNDING” COMPONENTS

The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of Russian and Kumyk riddles with the "sounding" seme. Riddles are considered from the standpoint of linguistics as a kind of paremic genre. Universal features prevail in Russian and Kumyk riddles. Among the figurative means, metaphorical transference is most common, and the technique of metaphorical negation is often used. In the Russian language, monomial and polynomial riddles are equally common, unlike the Kumyk language, where monomial units are preferred.
