Geographical names, or toponyms, are the mirror of history and culture of any country, and therefore require systematic research in the aspect of presentation of linguocultural information. This article, based on the analysis of the internal essence of toponyms, systematizes and allows us to speak about toponymy as a separate area of linguistic signs.
