In the article, we consider the relationship between the language and the cultural, socially developed environment. It reveals how social conditions affect speech features. The Tabasaran language is analyzed in direct connection with the social conditions (society, the number and age of people who speak the language, the level of knowledge of the language, the status of the language, etc.) in which the language functions and is formed. As a result of a number of observations, a sociolinguistic portrait of the language is being formed
