This article examines the impact of the development of cognitive linguistics on the study of modal particles. Modal particles are interpreted by scientists in different ways, not always unambiguously, which creates many opportunities for studying this topic. The Russian language is one of the global languages of the world as a means of communication and information transmission, so the study of modal particles is relevant today. Various modal meanings and shades of utterance begin to be expressed in formal words. A special category of "modal sentence particles" arises, which differ from conjunctions in that they express not connections between syntactic groups in speech, but various qualities of the utterance itself or its parts, their relation to reality
