THE NOTION OF "DEMOCRACY" IN BIDEN'S INAUGURAL ADDRESS

The article is devoted to the analysis of the conceptualization of the notion of "democracy", the central theme in the inaugural speech of J. Biden. Conceptualization is the structuring of knowledge about the world in a sign system. However, in political communication, the most important notions are interpreted based on the current needs of the politician and the political system, since the "struggle for power" is its main goal. The purpose of the study is to analyze and describe J. Biden's attempts to conceptualize the notion of "democracy". Methods of analysis. The President's speech was analyzed using a discursive approach to political texts, using qualitative content analysis. As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that the conceptualization of the concept did not take place, since the notion of "democracy" acquires meanings that are not characteristic of it, therefore it seems possible to assert that there was a narrativization of the concept, that is, the concept did not acquire a structured consistent semantics.
