CUSTOMS DOCUMENT AS A FORM OF WRITTEN COMMUNICATION IN CUSTOMS DISCOURSE

The study is conducted in the field of the English-language customs discourse. Customs texts are considered to be a common form of written communication. The activities of customs organizations are related to the execution of various documents, therefore, the genre of the document is one of the most common in customs discourse. Customs documents differ in syntactic, grammatical, stylistic and lexical specifics, with terminology often used in them. The particular interest for this study lies in the identification of the features of the functioning of English terminological abbreviations in the customs documents in English, in the description of the mechanisms of functioning of the abbreviations as substitutive semantic elements of customs terms. As a result of the study, it was revealed that English terminological abbreviations have strict and precise definitions, represent a concise description of customs terms and are used as their specific replacement elements.
