THE FUNCTIONING OF FEMINITIVES IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

The article is devoted to the study of nouns denoting females by profession or occupation. In Russian language they are usually formed with the help of suffixes, containing the modification meaning of femininity. The article deals with the problems of asymmetry in gender-relevant names of persons. Polysemy and stylistic features of suffixes with the meaning of femininity, which form the names of females, are revealed. And also discusses new types of women’s names, which are widely used in the media
