THE IMAGE OF THE DEFENDER OF THE COUNTRY IN THE STORY "RUSSIAN CHARACTER" BY A. TOLSTOY AND IN THE "MILITARY CHAPTERS" OF THE NOVEL "THEY FOUGHT FOR THEIR COUNTRY " BY M. SHOLOKHOV

The article reveals a number of properties of the Russian national character in the story “The Russian Character” by A. Tolstoy and in the “military chapters” of the novel “They Fought for Their Country” by M. Sholokhov, similarities and differences in the image of the image of the defender of the Country in the story “The Russian Character” by A. Tolstoy and in the “military chapters” of the novel “They Fought for Their Country” by M. Sholokhov. As a result, it is proved that both works represent patriotism, courage and catholicity of the Russian people. However, the main character of the story “The Russian Character” has practically no flaws, but each of the characters in the novel “They Fought for Their Country” has its own weaknesses. Nevertheless, the soldiers and officers in M. Sholokhov's work are united in their desire to save the Country and the people, to protect the world.
