The article is devoted to the consideration of the features and nature of the process of providing horses to the warriors of the Nizhny Novgorod reserve militia of 1812, the analysis of the class-corporate features of the era identified in the process of equipment and provision. Based on the study of the materials of the Central Archive of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the analysis of historiographical works, the general and special features of the local militia corps in the process of providing it with the necessary number of horses are revealed
