THE INFLUENCE OF THE OCCUPATION PERIOD AND ITS CONSEQUENCES ON THE DEMOGRAPHIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE STAVROPOL REGION IN 1943-1944 YEARS.

The article explores the main factors that influenced the deterioration of the demographic situation in the Stavropol Territory in the post–occupation period, specifically in 1943 - 1944. The author highlights and analyzes in the historical context the causes of famine in a number of districts of the region in 1943, as well as analyzes its demographic consequences. The paper also touches upon the problem of high infant mortality in the Stavropol region during the period under review. Particular attention is paid to the comparison of archival documents reflecting the problem under study. As a result of the analysis of a wide range of archival sources and statistical data, the author substantiates the conclusion about the multifactorial causes of famine in some areas of the region in 1943-1944.
