THE PRAGMATIC POTENTIAL OF ANTI-DRUG SLOGANS IN THE DISCOURSE OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE SOCIAL ADVERTISING

The article is devoted to the study of the pragmatic potential of English anti-drug slogans as an integral element of anti-drug social advertising. The status of the anti-drug slogan is being clarified. Its content, as well as pragmatic characteristics are considered. The main characteristic of anti-drug slogans is their regulatory and normative functions. The main pragmatic subtypes of slogans are distinguished. The conclusion is made about the predominance of the imperative type of tonality in English anti-drug slogans.
