TRANSFORMATION OF THE ROOT IN THE MODERN KABARDINO-CIRCASSIAN LANGUAGE

Etymological studies in the Abkhaz-Adyghe languages have so far been conducted within the language family in order to identify common root morphemes or determine sound correspondences in related languages. The meanings of sounds were not given due attention, which made it difficult to perceive the semantics of both the words themselves and, in particular, the root elements. Modern trends in linguistics in the field of etymology go beyond the boundaries of the study of the language itself and require interdisciplinary research that will ensure the proper depth of analysis of all components of the lexeme. The article attempts a multi-aspect consideration of one root morpheme, which in turn is also the sound-root. All the examples are grouped into a lexical nest and this makes it possible to trace the process of forming a systemic consensus. The paper also explores the semantic transformation of the root in the modern language.
