"TRANSLATOR’S FALSE FRIENDS" AS A SOURCE OF MISTAKES IN TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH

The article is devoted to an actual problem in the training of translators - the translation of vocabulary that provokes translation mistakes. This category includes internationalisms and polysemantic words of the original language that require certain knowledge and professional experience when they are transferred from one language to another. In order to determine the degree of severity of the problem, a study was conducted among students of the St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, studying in the direction of Linguistics (bachelor's degree). Despite the wide coverage of this problem in works on translation studies, the results of a survey of students confirmed its relevance today.
